Instituted in 1993 and repeated every year since, March 22 has been designated World Water Day by the United Nations. According to organizers, the annual event is celebrated in the hope of raising awareness about water-related issues impacting billions of people around the globe.
Here at WIN-911, we believe in that mission and understand its importance.
As you read this, our software is actively protecting millions of lives via water and wastewater monitoring. In the United States, WIN-911 software is being used by its ten largest cities and they all use it to help protect the water supply on which millions of people depend every day. In fact, if you’ve ever flushed a toilet in Chicago, taken a shower in Los Angeles, or done laundry in New York, you’ve used water that is being monitored for safety and quality by WIN-911 software. (You’re welcome!)
Outside the US, our alarm notification software is being used in some of the most interesting places. Most recently, WIN-911 was selected to help monitor the water quality at the Masjid al-Haram, the world’s largest and most revered mosque. More than two million worshippers make the journey to Mecca in Saudi Arabia each year to visit this mosque, and WIN-911 software makes sure that they all have safe, clean water to use for drinking and bathing while there. The alarm notification software has effectively turned the mosque’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) into a preventive control mechanism. Should something ever disrupt the mosque’s water supply, WIN-911 software will alert the appropriate people immediately—a critically important consideration in today’s world.
Currently, WIN-911 is already improving the methods used by companies and organizations to monitor their processes. By integrating the WIN-911 mobile alarm notification system, water facilities can effectively switch from reactionary to preventive management, improving quality as well as their customer satisfaction ratings. If there is one time when speed truly matters, it’s when responding to an emergency.
Like the United Nations, WIN-911 is fully committed to making a difference in the lives of those who suffer from water-related issues and to finding innovative ways to manage and maintain water supplies. With that, we encourage everyone to do their share to help protect and conserve our planet’s precious water resources.
