WIN-911 operates within a vast ecosystem of diverse industries and ever-evolving SCADA system partner technologies. Our software is used in food production, natural disaster monitoring, building management, aerospace and defense, as well as water and wastewater treatment to name a few industries. While our products serve the needs of these operations, those needs can differ widely from one site to the next.
Adaptation requires collaboration
Servicing the needs of such a wide swath of use cases requires a lot of ears to the ground. To that end, our success is rooted in the lasting partnerships we’ve developed with companies in the SCADA remote sensing and monitoring business.
We spoke with a representative of one of our SCADA system partners who operates in the American Midwest. He confidently introduces WIN-911 to engineers and systems integrators—but before WIN-911 was part of his sales pitch, it was a competitor.
“We used to have a product that competed with WIN-911. Several years ago, we had to end-of-life it because the code simply couldn’t be modernized. We received permission to sell WIN-911 in its place and now, that’s all we sell. When a customer using the old product says they want to upgrade, we tell them they will be upgrading to WIN-911.”
Developing a lasting partnership means taking stock of what you do well and adapting that to meet your partner’s needs.
“One advantage to working with WIN-911 is that they understand they’re a secondary product. They know our job is to sell SCADA systems and the customer gets WIN-911 along with it. We support WIN-911 because, for the most part, there aren’t a lot of products that can do what WIN-911 does. There are some auto dialer products, but they are pricey because you pay for each channel. WIN-911 lets you have multiple channels for a single relatively low price. “
Much of his work involves meeting with engineers and systems integrators to convince them to incorporate modern SCADA and alarm notification systems in their project specifications. This work has given him an intimate idea of how WIN-911 can best serve the needs of end-user clients and partners.
Building our products to work with partner SCADA products
Recently, that SCADA system partner acquired an HMI company. They asked WIN-911 to engineer a direct connector to enable the HMI to run with a modern alarm notification system. So that’s exactly what we are doing. By working together, WIN-911 and our partners are able to achieve more than simply improve a single plant or manufacturing facility. Collaboration allows us to help entire industries innovate.
